Your body has been trying to tell you something

Hi Reader,

Here's something I find myself coming back to again and again.

Your body is always talking to you. Not in some mystical, you-have-to-meditate-for-hours kind of way. In the most ordinary, everyday ways. The belly growl when you're hungry. The tight shoulders creeping up to your ears when your to-do list gets too long. The held breath when something makes you nervous. The 2am tossing and turning when your mind won't quiet down.

We know these things. We just tend to push through them.

| "I didn't have time to deal with it."

A decade ago, that was me. Eye twitching. Stomach in knots. Headaches that just wouldn't quit. I brushed them off as the cost of being busy. Turns out, they were my body waving a flag. And when I kept ignoring it, my body found a way to make me stop... with an emergency gallbladder removal.

Looking back now, with what I know through acupressure and energy work, those were textbook signs of an imbalanced gallbladder meridian. Frustration, impatience, feeling out of control. My body was speaking a language I hadn't learned to listen to yet.

I share this not to scare you, but because I see it all the time. In conversations with clients, in the stories people share when they finally slow down enough to notice. The body is so loyal. It works incredibly hard to keep us going, and it keeps nudging us, sometimes gently, sometimes not so gently, toward what we need.

What would it mean to start treating your body like a friend instead of something to push through?

While the image below is for my Recharge at Work - corporate wellness program, the same goes for us in our personal life. Our bodies go with us wherever we go. πŸ˜‰

From the Weekend

Poynette Wellness Day 2025

Last weekend I had the joy of being part of the first-ever Poynette Wellness Day, and honestly, it filled my cup.

Families and kids ran a 5K together, side by side, cheering each other along the whole way. People stopped by to chat about stress, healing, and what it might look like to feel better in their own skin. Someone joked that they'd probably score as every stress type on the quiz. (Honestly, fair.) Another person shared that they'd made some real-life changes and were genuinely feeling lighter. Kids dug through the sticker basket searching for exactly the right one while their parents tried to keep everyone together. It was real and warm and exactly the kind of morning that reminds me why this work matters.

I shared a table with the wonderful Dr. Angela Hall from Hall Family Chiropractic, and it was a reminder of what I love most about showing up in community: being around people who genuinely want to make the world a healthier, more loved place to be. If you prefer gentle, nervous-system-based chiropractic care - check out Dr. Angela! She's amazing!

And...... special shoutout to my parents, who showed up to help set up the tent and kept everything from taking flight in the wind. My mom is a talented weaver who is a regular at art fairs and vendor events, and she came equipped with tablecloths and the kind of practical wisdom that only someone who has done this a hundred times has. I am so grateful for them. Having people in your corner matters, and I do not take it for granted.

A little something just for fun!

So... what's your stress type?

I launched a free quiz a little while back, and the results have been coming in. Here's what the data is telling me so far, and I have to say, I am not even a little surprised.

The Overachiever is in the lead at 34%. No shocker there. If you're reading this email, there's a good chance you know how to get things done. The question is whether you ever actually stop.

πŸ† The Overachiever β€” 34.4%
Always on. Hard to stop. Rest feels like something you have to earn first.
🧽 The Absorber β€” 31.3%
You feel everything, often everyone else's feelings too. The world's weight lands on you first.
🀝 The People Pleaser β€” 21.9%
Saying no is hard. You give generously and put yourself last without even thinking about it.
✏️ The Perfectionist β€” 12.5%
Details matter. A lot. Done is never quite done enough, and that quiet pressure adds up.

Recognize yourself in any of these? (Even if it's more than one β€” you are not alone in that.) The quiz takes just a few minutes and gives you a personalized result with real insights on what you can actually do about it with customized tips.

What's Your Stress Type?

In just a few minutes, this quiz will help you understand how stress shows up for you, and what to do about it. It's a great first step toward actually listening to your body.

Hi Reader, This past weekend I noticed something. I was on Fast Forward. I was rushing to pack up and leave. Rushing through the drive to the office while eating my breakfast at the same time. And then I caught myself... rushing, when there was absolutely no reason for it. Somewhere inside, that Fast Forward button had been pushed, maybe by accident, maybe out of habit. So I turned it off manually. A few deep breaths. Then I intentionally slowed down. I looked around while I was driving. I...

Hi Reader, Disconnection hides in plain sight. "It gets mistaken for ordinary life, which is why so few of us notice we've left." Ooofff.... "...so few of us notice we've left." I read that line this morning and felt it land in my stomach, my heart, and then a full exhale. You know that feeling, when something hits you at a visceral level? It came from an email by Sean Fargo, a meditation teacher I follow, describing his interview with Qigong Master Mingtong Gu. (His new book, Coming Home to...

Hi Reader, Over the last couple of weeks, I have been inspired by my clients, through 1:1 work and in the group workshop. Inspired by hearing them go through life situations where they listen to what is right for them, and what might be wrong for them…or in other words, what is aligned or not aligned with their values and beliefs. And then taking action from that awareness instead of out of automatic habit. What I have been seeing and hearing, is them taking a stand for themselves, by saying...
